Summer Credit Recovery Coach – School of Continuing and Professional Studies

In the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, under the direction of the Student Success Specialist, the Credit Recovery Coach provides a strategy-based approach to academic support for students. The coach assists students in developing time management, organization, study skills, note taking and long-term planning skills. Coaches need to be able to work independently and have flexibility based on the student’s schedule.

This is a summer 2026 position. Candidates must be available to meet virtually, offering day and early evening hours as students’ schedules dictate. Some training hours will be required in mid-April. Estimated 10-19 hours per week from May 11, 2026, to August 15, 2026. This is a hybrid position, with a mix of remote and in office hours required.

Must be enrolled in a graduate school program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work independently with individual students to provide support through strategy-based initiatives (time management, planning for long term assignments, preparing for tests/exams, note taking, and course assignment support);
  • Fosters positive/aspirational relationships that promote persistence and completion by maintaining a caseload of summer credit recovery students (students retaking a course they previously received a D/F/W’d).
  • Monitors progress of students in caseload with check-ins, information sessions, scheduled meetings, proactive outreach, and communication, responding to students’ questions, concerns and needs.
  • Conducts coaching through individual sessions that help students assess their own performance and develop academic success plans.
  • Assists students in developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success.
  • Helps students in identifying, developing, and implementing learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials. Refers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to assist students during an intense six-week summer course schedule.
  • Reports to the Student Success Specialist weekly contacts and assessment of student engagement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate school program.
  • Excellent oral communication
  • Familiarity with campus systems preferred, NAVIGATE, PEOPLE SOFT
  • Ability to learn and apply best practices in coaching.
  • Preference to candidates who have worked in an advising or coaching setting.
