Forten Legacy Scholars Graduate Program Assistant – McKeown School of Education
This position provides coordination and operational support for the Forten Legacy Scholars program which is designed to support diverse students in four areas: (1) Advising and retention support, (2) recruitment and partnership development, (3) programming and curriculum development, and (4) scholarship and records management together with the faculty program directors and the Associate Dean.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule and take minutes at executive leadership program meetings, developing action plans for implementation based on executive decisions;
- Learn and execute a coaching curriculum for program participants with advisement from Associate Dean;
- Develop and manage logistics for student programming/activity elements together with Associate Dean as appropriate;
- Co-lead student programming activities;
- Manage internal program recruitment activity and track member records and eligibility requirements;
- Meet with students currently ineligible to participate in the program to help them develop plans to become eligible in future terms;
- Support student communications, as needed;
- Maintain office hours from 11-1:30PM Monday - Thursday and occasional afternoon/evening/weekend events.
Minimum Qualifications
· Have a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field;
· Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills in standard English;
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal experience working with multilingual and culturally diverse student populations;
· Demonstrate understanding/interest in inclusion, social justice, and equity in education/social services;
· Be available to work during university community time (Monday mornings) and attend executive meetings;
· Demonstrate professional maturity and be a strong communicator
