Politics, Policy and Intl Relations (PPIR) Office Aide – Media and Communication
The PPIR office aide serves as the presence at the front desk of the Politics, Policy and International Relations department when the administrative assistant is unavailable. This position includes general administrative tasks, mainly in terms of greeting visitors to the department and answering questions. There will also be tasks such as copying and scanning. There may be times that the aide will be asked to assist with student groups, events, and other planning, as well as updating the department’s social media presence. The aide also offers support for the chairperson and the department faculty in a variety of tasks as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining professional presence at front desk
- Answering questions and directing students
- Copying, scanning, and printing
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail
- Managing and organizing supplies
- Maintaining the website and social media presence for the department
- Performing other duties as they arise
Minimum Qualifications
- Student majoring or minoring in Political Science preferred
- Training will be provided so that the aide may learn to answer questions independently and gain a solid familiarity with the layout of SSU campus.
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Training on social media will be provided by SSU. The aide will be expected to be appropriate online when representing the department.
Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality per the FERPA regulations
