Graduate Coordinator – Academic Advising

The Graduate Coordinator of Undergraduate Peer Advising will design, implement, and assess programmatic efforts of the Academic Advising Peer Advising program in an effort to increase academic success planning for undergraduate students and increase retention.

Duties and Responsibilities

The bulk of responsibilities will occur during scheduled hours to support the needs of the Peer Advising program. Training will be provided for all job functions. Position responsibilities include:

  • Programming, Workshops, and Campaigns:
    • Develop and implement informational programming for important dates and reminders regarding Academic Advising
    • Create and host workshops to actively support students in Academic Advising
    • Build infrastructure for and monitor Registration/Advising Prep and Eligible Non-Registered Campaigns
    • Create Academic Advising resources for Peer Advisors when working with students in individual settings
  • Create and hold student workshops on a variety of relevant advising topics:
    • Academic skill building and mentorship
  • Assess programmatic efforts and analyze data to improve Peer Advising
  • Campus partner event support:
    • Assistance with orientations, open houses, and accepted students day
    • Programming efforts around campus

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned an undergraduate bachelor’s degree
  • Enrolled in a Salem State University graduate program
  • Is available to work 15 hours a week during office business hours
  • This is an in-person, on-campus position

$19.00/hr
