MCO Lab Assistant – Media and Communication

MCO Department is looking for students with Work Study funds to help maintain the lab's open hours. Assisting fellow students with questions they may have about the iMacs and related coursework. IT experience is not required but it is asked that you have experience working within the lab for MCO courses prior to applying for this role so you can provide support to fellow students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees Open Lab Hours and use of the iMacs by MCO students.
  • Sets up and shuts down the lab according to work hours.
  • Reports to the Media and Communication Technologist and escalates more difficult issues or requests as needed.
  • Makes sure food and beverages are not consumed in the lab and/or liquids are not in close proximity to computers.
  • Offers general consultation for MCO students who are working or studying in the lab.
  • Provides instruction to all lab users on proper use of equipment and ensures all lab equipment is properly cared for.
  • Coordinate and communicate requests about the lab use as needed.
  • Guides lab users to safety in the event of a fire or emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be an MCO Major. Must have successfully completed MCO 235 Multimedia Storytelling or currently be enrolled in the course. Must have been awarded work study funds through Financial Aid in order to be eligible for hire.

Wages

$15.00/hr
