Graduate Assistant, Inclusive Excellence and HSI-MSI Initiatives – Office of Inclusive Excellence
The Graduate Assistant for Inclusive Excellence and HSI-MSI Initiatives plays a key role in furthering the university's mission to create an inclusive, equitable, and justice-oriented campus community. This position focuses on providing resources that integrate culturally affirming practices across departments and institutional systems, pedagogy, and student engagement.
The Graduate Assistant will collaborate closely with the Director of Education and Training and the Assistant Vice President for HSI-MSI Initiatives to support the development, coordination, and outreach of 1) educational programs and initiatives that aim to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff, faculty, and students, and 2) culturally affirming programming and observances during heritage months and throughout the academic year.
In addition to their pay, the Graduate Assistant will also receive a Professional Development stipend of $1000.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Support the development and implementation of educational, community-centered, and culturally affirming programs and initiatives during heritage months and throughout the academic year.
- Support the coordination and outreach for the Diversity, Power Dynamics and Social Justice (DPDS) Academic Seal
- Provide supervision and support to the Inclusive Excellence and HSI-MSI Ambassadors
- Assist with communication, social media, and general outreach efforts for Inclusive Excellence and HSI-MSI Initiatives
- Support data collection, evaluation, and reporting on Inclusive Excellence and HSI-MSI initiatives
- Serve on campus committees as needed
- Assist with administrative tasks, translation protocols, and other IE/HSI-MSI Initiatives projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Enrollment in a graduate program at Salem State University
- Interest and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
- Interest in program, training, and/or workshop development and facilitation.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency, preferably Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole
Wages
$18.00/hr
