Annual Giving Office Assistant – Advancement

Annual Giving Office Assistant/ Student Fundraisers are students who are philanthropy advocates and who engage alumni, students, parents and friends in financially supporting Salem State. They are leaders on-campus, making connections that lead to charitable support of Salem State.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Educate peers on the importance of philanthropy
  • Engage peers by personally asking them to support Salem State and the Senior Class Gift Fund (i.e. tabling, campus events, social media, crowdfunding promotion, texting and telemarketing)
  • Engage alumni by personally asking them to support Salem State ((i.e. tabling, campus events, social media, crowdfunding promotion, texting and telemarketing)
  • Staff events that promote student philanthropy and provide an opportunity to make a gift
  • Serve as a social media influencer for student events, student philanthropy and other campus events
  • Work with Advancement officer to promote philanthropy in general
  • Assists with phone calling

Other in the office/virtual administrative duties as assigned

Must be available a minimum of 2 days per week on any of the following days; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: between the hours of 9-5pm

(minimum of 4 hours per day )

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging with peers and the Salem State community in conversations about philanthropy
  • Personable and positive
  • Sense of pride and affinity for supporting Salem State University through fundraising
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, dependable and demonstrates a willingness to learn
  • Self-starter and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in uses of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Computer literate, particularly with Office products (Word, Excel)
