Campus Life and Recreation Program Assistant IV – Campus Life and Recreation

Duties and Responsibilities

Group Exercise Instructors will work with campus community members of various age, gender and ability levels. In this group setting, instructors are required to motivate and educate class participants on proper exercise techniques. Instructors design and implement safe and effective group classes, provide a motivating and enjoyable environment and assist participants with equipment set-up and use. Classes must be safe and effective for all fitness levels with intensity modifications provided as necessary. All instructors must implement proper curing and injury prevention practices.

Rec Program Instructors will assist the Gassett Fitness Center in the management, design and implementation of fitness and wellness programs, workshops and events. Candidate will lead workshops and other programs as assigned.

Esports Manager will be responsible for helping to carry out day-to-day operations for Salem State’s competitive esports program. Individual must obtain a comprehensive knowledge of NECC policies and regulations in order to ensure compliance. Esports Managers are expected to act with decorum when communicating with league officials and opposing universities, and strong problem-solving skills are imperative. Matchday responsibilities include tracking participation in conjunction with team captains, updating software as necessary, facilitating matches with special attention to NECC rules, streaming matches, and reporting results. Administrators may ask for assistance with other duties as necessary. Individual will be trained in opening and closing the esports lounge and are expected to take point in enforcing risk management protocols.

Photographer will be responsible for attending Campus Life & Recreation sponsored programs and events to capture images. Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to attend programs and events during evenings and weekends. Individual must have good time management with the ability to edit and submit photos to the department administrative team in a timely manner. Work will be used for our website, flyers/advertisements, social media posts and print advertisements.

Minimum Qualifications

Group Exercise Instructor - A nationally accredited Group Fitness and/or specialty certification is required. All instructors must also hold and maintain current CPR/AED Certifications.

Rec Program Instructors - prior experience in a fitness center and experience leading workshops and programs. Sport & Movement Science students are strongly encouraged to apply. Individual must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. In-house training will be provided for those not currently certified.

Esports Managers- Experience with competitive gaming is required. Experience using OBS Studio is preferred but not required. Individual must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. In-house training will be provided for those not currently certified.

Photographer must have own equipment and be proficient in Photoshop or other editing software. Individual must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. In-house training will be provided for individuals who are not currently certified.

Wages

$16.75/hr
