Study Abroad Student Outreach Assistant – Academic Affairs

The Study Abroad Office in the Center for International Education has a US State Department grant-funded position for a student who student who has experience studying, traveling, or living abroad or in a different culture. The ideal candidate will be someone who understands the importance of studying and traveling abroad and can reach out to other students and their families to share information on the study abroad process. This position will require attention to detail, speaking to groups of students and their parents, visiting classes and campus groups and clubs, and providing administrative support. Bi-lingual Spanish skills highly desired.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visiting classes, groups, and clubs and delivering presentations and answering questions about Study Abroad
  • Staffing an informational table in various campus locations
  • Speaking with prospective students individually or in small groups
  • Creating opportunities for outreach to Spanish-speaking students and their families
  • Presenting to Spanish-speaking and other underrepresented students and families
  • Promoting events and programs around campus
  • Posting weekly to social media, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
  • Assisting the Assistant Director with administrative tasks, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience studying or traveling abroad or in a Spanish-speaking community
  • Bi-lingual abilities in Spanish strongly preferred
  • Ability to present to a group of students and/or parents
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to generate new ideas for outreach and organize events and social media outreach

Wages

$15.00/hr
