Graduate Study Abroad Outreach Assistant – Center for International Education

The Center for International Education has a US State Department grant-funded position for a graduate student who is enthusiastic about international education and interested in expanding opportunity in the field of Study Abroad. The ideal candidate will be a current graduate student who has had an experience studying abroad or prior international experience and would like to help promote study abroad to students who may have not considered it an option.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing and delivering presentations related to study abroad in classes
  • Reaching out to student groups and offices and attending meetings and creating opportunities to learn more about study abroad
  • Meeting 1 on 1 and in small groups with students who may be interested in study abroad
  • Attending events, including study abroad fairs, information sessions, pre-departure orientations, and student events via groups and clubs. Some of these may be held on weekends

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to present to and connect with a variety of students from a range of cultural backgrounds
  • Bi-lingual Spanish skills highly desired
  • Strong interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills
  • High respect for discretion of students’ personal information
  • Personal or work experience in an international or multi-cultural environment

Wages

$18.00/hr
