LEAP's Post-Secondary Summer Intern – Center for Civic Engagement

  • LEAP for Education is currently looking for a Post-Secondary Summer Intern who will work with LEAP’s Post-Secondary and Alumni Coordinator to support new summer transition programming for rising college freshmen, as well as the expansion of an alumni network. The Post-Secondary Summer Intern will need to be comfortable speaking and writing in Spanish to develop communications for students and parents, and outreaching to LEAP’s community partners to aid in developing new partnerships with Salem’s local businesses.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with our Post-Secondary and Alumni Coordinator to develop LEAP’s Summer Real Talk Sessions, a workshop series for rising college freshmen centered around social and emotional development

  • Assist in content development (curriculum and marketing materials) and facilitation of Summer Real Talk sessions

  • Work alongside LEAP’s Post-Secondary and Alumni Coordinator in the expansion of our alumni network through recruiting efforts in social media engagement and outreach

  • Practice tasks such as community outreach and data collection

  • Develop skills in areas of communication, facilitation, graphic design and social-emotional development work to the nonprofit realm

  • Other tasks related to post-secondary programming, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:
Able to speak and write English in a professional conversation
Able to speak and write in Spanish in a professional conversation (preferred, but not required)
Ability to work independently on projects
Current college student
Must pass a CORI background check
Interested in working with community members and high school graduates
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
