SWK 707 Peer Tutor – School of Social Work

The Evaluation Research Tutor will partner with professors in SWK 707 in providing tutoring support to students related to course content. Tutoring topics will include research design as well as applied univariate and bivariate statistics. The peer tutor will provide group and/or individual support using a peer support model.

Duties and Responsibilities

The peer tutor will provide up to 10 hours per week of individual and group tutoring to students in all sections of SWK 707 using a peer support model. Weekly supervision for at least 30 minutes with their professor will also be required.

Minimum Qualifications

The peer tutor must either be a student in good standing in SWK 707 or a student who has completed SWK 707 with a grade of higher than a 3.3 (B+). The peer tutor must feel confident about explaining research and statistics concepts to other people in simple language, and in an encouraging manner. Ideally, the peer tutor must have some experience working in a tutorial or mentoring capacity in some other setting.
