Student Navigation Center Greeter – Student Navigation Center

Student Navigation Center Greeters will be responsible for welcoming all visitors (virtually or in person) to the Student Navigation Center. Greeters are the first person that visitors will see when making contact with the SNC, and as such they must be welcoming, friendly, and have a positive and professional attitude.

SNC greeters will listen to the visitor to determine how they, and by extension, the SNC can help them. Greeters will need to know the most frequently asked questions regarding Financial Aid, Student Accounts, ClipperCard and Registration to assist visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Act as the first line of contact for students, parents, and community members by supporting the Student Navigation Center team in responding to inquiries regarding areas covered by the Student Navigation Center.

  • Act as a greeter to the Student Navigation Center assisting students checking in (virtually and in person) and directing students as needed.
  • Help in answering basic questions for areas covered by the Student Navigation Center. Preliminary assistance should be brief and if interactions are complex, Greeters will refer visitors to administrators for further assistance.
  • Entering all interactions with students into the university’s retention system called Navigate.
  • Deliver excellent, accurate, and timely student services.
  • Understand who is the appropriate staff member or office needed when referring escalated situations.
  • Work on special projects for both the Service Center & Business Offices as assigned.
  • Attend scheduled trainings.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours/week.

Minimum GPA of 2.75.

Self-motivated learner who is willing to teach others.

Strong knowledge of Navigator, Navigate, Touchnet, Canvas and all other systems a student must use at Salem State.

Positive attitude, empathy for others, and the ability to view situations from different perspectives is required.

Speaking a language other than English is highly desirable but not required.

$15.00/hr
