Admissions Community Communications Aide – Undergraduate Admissions

Admissions Community Communications Aides coordinate office activities, manage information and facilitate internal operations. New hires are trained on-the-job and begin with mostly administrative and clerical duties, such as answering phones, answering emails, filing documents and disseminating information. Additional responsibilities may include planning meetings, scheduling appointments, reviewing communiques.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide assistance to admissions counselor. Responsible for working with Community Based Organizations and Charter School students.

Counsel and instruct students on college procedures and processes.

Handle and respond to student inquiries with thorough and accurate information.

Handle and process student admission application documents (transcripts, test, scores, letters of recommendation, etc.)

Maintain and manage student files in an organized manner.

Minimum Qualifications

One to two years office experience required.

Ability to use personal computers, other office machines.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work with minimum supervision.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

Must be pleasant and be able to work independently.

Must Possess excellent telephone manner.

Database familiarity is a plus.

The candidate must possess the ability to maintain a professional attitude and have the ability to multitask.

Second semester Salem State student or greater.

Minimum GPA 2.5 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (Graduate)

Must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hrs/week

The position requires a high level of professionalism and high skilled customer service approach.

Previous administrative support experience.

This position is to support efforts directly correlated to the recruitment of students from Community Based Organizations and Massachusetts Charter Schools. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in or affiliated of said parties.
