Project Coordinator for First Year Reading Experience – First Year Experience

The First Year Experience Office seeks a highly-motivated Salem State University graduate students to work with the Director of FYE and the Faculty Fellow(s) to create a teaching materials guidebook for the (FYRE) First Year Reading Experience's 2017-2018 book, to be selected in mid-February.

The scope of the work involves writing, proofreading, editing, and assembling literary/historical context for the reading as well as compiling sample assignments and other teaching aides. The deliverable will be a complete guidebook containing a number of different resources, appropriate for multiple disciplines, for faculty to use when using the FYRE book. The student will be expected to read the FYRE book in order to effectively design materials.

The scope of the work will occur over the spring semester with drafts submitted on a weekly basis. The graduate student may work out of the First Year Experience Office, based on schedule, during their hours and will have access to a computer.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong writing and critical thinking skills. Ability to design classroom assignments appropriate to college-level settings which connect to the book and themes introduced within. Must be a current graduate student at Salem State University, with strong preference for students in Education or English programs and/or who possess a background in teaching or designing curricular assignments.
