Theatre Scenic/Tech Assistant – Theatre and Speech Communication

Constructs scenic elements for theatrical productions in the Sophia Gordon Center Mainstage Theatre and Callan Studio Theatre. Operates the light and/or sound board for events hosted in the Mainstage Theatre, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend build calls as arranged with the Technical Director.
  • Report to the Technical Director or Assistant Technical Director for Scenic Build assignments each shift.
  • Construct scenery using hand and power tools.
  • As needed, operate the light board and/or sound board for events hosted in the Sophia Gordon Center Mainstage.
  • Dress code: Clothes you can comfortably work in and close-toed shoes are required. For events, clothes and shoes should be all black. (Please be aware that you may be working with lumber, paint, or metal, so it's possible that your clothes and shoes could get dirty/stained during work hours.)

Minimum Qualifications

Previous scenic construction, successful completion of THE108 Intro to Stagecraft, or event tech experience is strongly preferred.

All applicants must have Work Study funds through SSU Financial Aid in order to qualify for this position.
