Annual Giving Graduate Assistant – Advancement

Job Description

The role of the Graduate Assistant for Annual Giving is to fulfill the annual giving objective of educating, engaging, and exciting current students about the importance and impact of giving to Salem State by coordinating fundraising activities as determined by the Asst. Dir., Annual Giving. This position will also oversee student outreach to Salem State’s donors to thank them for their financial support and encourage future giving. This individual will become a valuable member of the Annual Giving team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in student fundraising programs
  • Coordinating schedules for a team of 4-5 students
  • Supervising tabling, campus event presence, and other outreach and engagement
  • Ensure students are trained on peer education and solicitation skills
  • Contact Salem State alumni, parents, and friends from prospect lists provided by supervisor asking them to make their annual gift. Contact may include outreach phone calls, handwritten notes, emails or texting.
  • Create creative pieces to promote student philanthropy
  • Maintain a strong student philanthropy social media and web presence
  • Stay current with latest trends in student philanthropy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent supervision skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Sense of pride and affinity for supporting Salem State University through fundraising
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, dependable and demonstrates a willingness to learn
  • Self-starter and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in uses of social media (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram)
  • Computer literate, particularly with Office products (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work some evenings

$19.00/hr
