Summer Housing Assistant (SHA) – Residence Life

General Duties:

- Assist with all summer student housing: staff hall front desks, assist in coordinating check-in/check-outs for all student housing, enforce/abide by all university policies, attend weekly staff meetings, and assist with Residence Life projects.

- Work schedules will be put together for staff, equally distributed between all SHAs. Any shift switches with other SHAs must be even swaps (shift for shift) or requires approval from supervisors (RDs and Central Staff). Failure to work minimal of 10 hours per week will result in staff discipline and/or termination.

Duties and Responsibilities

Detailed Duties:

- Provide customer service to all students staying for the summer during both scheduled and non-scheduled hours.

- Carry out administrative responsibilities and work on projects/tasks as assigned.

- Distribution of incoming mail and packages

- Maintain all occupancy reports and room condition reports.

- Participate in a rotating on-call duty schedule and conduct rounds of the residential area you are on duty for.

- Assist with checking in summer residents.

- Create bulletin boards for assigned areas

- Assist in conducting Health and Safety Inspections of rooms/apartments as needed. Provide administrative support to Residence Life Professional staff and Central office.

- Attend all training sessions and additional meetings with summer program staffs.

- Attend weekly staff meetings.

- Check SSU email as the primary form of communication from Residence Life.

- Report all maintenance concerns to supervisors in a timely fashion.

- Confront inappropriate behavior and document as needed. Notify supervisor in a timely fashion of incidents and issues.

- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


· Excellent customer service and administrative skills.

· Detailed oriented, dependable, and reliable

· Knowledge of Basic Office Procedures

· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher)

· Maintain good academic standing. Minimum 2.0 GPA

· Be in good judicial standing

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
