Peer Tutoring/Supplemental Instruction Project Assistant – Center for Academic Excellence

This student employee position will support the Coordinator of Academic Services in the Center for Academic Excellence with administrative functions related to the operation of the Peer Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track attendance for Supplemental Instruction sessions
  • Update peer tutoring and Supplemental Instruction materials as needed
  • Respond to e-mail or walk-in questions about how to access a peer tutor
  • Keep track of student employee course schedules
  • Help advertise peer tutoring through print, website, or social media
  • Assist with Navigate data and reports related to peer tutoring and SI
  • Collaborate with other departments or student employees where applicable
  • Other duties depending on program needs and student employee skills/interests (for example, work on YouTube channel for peer tutoring)
  • Preference given to applicants able to complete some of their hours on campus in the Center for Academic Excellence on a Monday or Wednesday.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to students, faculty, and staff of varying racial, ethnic, religious, gender, cultural, disability, sexual orientation and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with a diversity of learning styles

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be reliable and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and basic Excel functions
  • Must be in/maintain good academic standing
  • Applicants must complete an interview
  • Must be able to work on-campus
